Detroit boasts a vibrant theater scene with a mix of touring Broadway productions and local performances. With about a dozen and a half professional theaters and a plethora of smaller theaters, Detroit’s theater district is second only to New York 

Detroit’s crown jewel, the Fox Theatre, is one of the most iconic theatres and music venues in the world. Opened in 1928 as a flagship movie palace in the Fox Theatres chain, it is noted as the first theater designed and built to include a speaker system for sound films. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989. In addition to hosting some of the biggest names in show business, the historic venue features a collection of award-winning Broadway musicals, interactive stage shows and treasured holiday favorites. The world-class theatre ranked sixth in the nation and seventh in the world in Pollstar’s 2019 Year-End Rankings for Top 200 Theatres.

Downtown Detroit

The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre is a beautiful, 6,000-person waterfront concert venue nestled on the Detroit River -  it is recognized as one of the top 100 concert venues in the world. It is a destination of choice for major recording artists and entertainment superstars from around the world. Cool breezes waft off the water, boaters anchor nearby, and Canada's shoreline provides the backdrop.  A wide range of national and local acts provides the hot music. Though jazz, blues and soul rule the roost here, contemporary can be found. The venue offers a covered pavilion and lawn seating.

Dearborn, Michigan

The Detroit Opera House is a live theater and music venue with a seating capacity of over 2,100. Having been in existence since 1922. The Opera House is home to the Michigan Opera Theatre and the Detroit home to many of the world's best operas, dance companies, Broadway shows and concerts. The frescoes, marble stairways, draperies and chandeliers from its glory days have been beautifully restored.

Working alongside the world’s leading producers and creative artists, this historic venue presents an extraordinarily diverse range of top-quality entertainment including Broadway shows. The Fisher Theatre originally opened as a movie and vaudeville house on November 11, 1928. In 1961, it was remodeled as a live theatre under the management of the Nederlander Theatrical Corporation.

The theater features beautiful adornments, including marble, Indian rosewood, walnut paneling, and crystal and bronze decorative work.
