The coffee for the shop comes from Proud Mary’s sister company, Proud Mary USA, known for high-quality roasts and stellar service at its Portland, Oregon, cafe and roastery. Limited seating, mostly grab-and-go.
Downtown - Financial District
Mostly a coffee shop, but good food and much more. Located in a beautifully restored church. The coffee, food, and alcohol are great. The menu is tea and coffee, bagels, pancakes, toast, salads, soups, sandwiches, and random snacks like mezze and baked Brie. There's a short wine list and beers in bottles and on tap, plus cocktails and coffee cocktails. "Substantial food," for sure.
Boston Edison Neighborhood
The minimalist, airy "third" space features coffee sourced by iconic Midwest brand Intelligentsia, a charming outdoor patio, and an elevated bleacher-style seating area and U-shaped bar that encourage folks to return to the pursuit of leisurely meet ups with friends and family in real life. The bleachers are built for small groups to gather, kids to stretch their legs, or for live performances by local artists. One of the newest Best Downtown Detroit Coffee Shops, the is also a wonderful selection of baked goods.
Eastern Market Neighborhood
Eastern Market's coffee shop, art gallery, and performance space. They serve direct-trade, locally roasted coffee and a full line of coffee/espresso drinks, teas, organic 100% juice, and homemade cardamom chai. Very nice lunch menu. Great coffee house feel, the space is so hip it reminds of a campus coffee shop from the 1970s. Located just outside downtown in a developing area with decades-old retail stores.
Eastern Market Neighborhood
Anthology coffee shop and roaster has an industrial minimalist look with exposed brick walls and ductwork as well as a custom-built coffee bar. During the day, the room receives lots of natural light from three garage doors at the front of the space. Those doors, in turn, open up to a large outdoor deck. On the menu, customers can expect Anthology’s single-origin roasts served as pour-overs and in espresso drinks. This Downtown Detroit Coffee Shop also serves a variety of pastries and cakes.
Detroit Eastern Market
Serious coffee, serious cocktails, delicious French food and fresh bagels. This cafe and bar are situated in the basement of a historic brick mansion, and pay homage to the French cafes of the early 20th century. A casual venue, decorated with natural tones and pops of green from subway tile.
Midtown Neighborhood
The Siren Coffee Cafe is tucked away in the lobby of the refurbished, vintage Siren Hotel. The in-house café and bar features freshly roasted coffees, teas, and delectable pastries. The throwback Italian Renaissance style of the hotel lobby and public spaces is inspired by the building’s original architecture - this skyscraper, originally the Wurlitzer headquarters, opened in 1926.
